F-F-Friday (42)

April 17, 2009

On Easter Sunday we were hunting for plastic eggs when I found this dainty wildflower in my favorite color in my parents’ front yard.

What kind of flower is it? So beautiful! I’d much rather find a flower than a plastic egg.

What a great shot! I’m still trying to catch-up with all my F F Friday posts…

Sarah, I’m pretty sure it’s chickory, a “weed” used to stretch coffee in tough times. Mom

Mom, I have seen chicory by the mailbox and along the road, but I don’t think this one in the photo is chicory. Its petals don’t have the “teeth” at the ends and the stamen are quite different. I saw this same flower at the arboretum today. We’ll keep trying to find out what it is.

That’s beautiful! Is it some sort of daisy? We don’t have any wildflowers that look like that in purple. I’ve seen white ones, though.
