F-F-Friday (17)

October 24, 2008

A couple of weeks ago (obviously before it was 40 degrees outside!), my children made some castles out of sand and potting soil, then topped them with mushrooms and Queen Anne’s Lace.Β  In honor of playing outside with grandparents, I’m making today Fungi Floral Friday!

Fungi – such a fun word to say; I almost stopped and took photos in my neighbor’s yard a couple of weeks ago. They had a huge crop of mushrooms on the front lawn. They were so bright white like yours, and on the dark green they looked so neat.

Saintseester, I agree. It is fun to say. My parents have such photogenic things in their yard; we are lucky.

Randomability, lol. Too bad we didn’t have any red-hot-marshmallow-squirters.

I had never seen as many seriously strange and disturbing looking mushrooms before living in New England. Great post!

Great photos. The kids did some wonderful imaginative castles. We also have some weird mushrooms growing in our yard. They are beautiful though as most things in nature are.

bkclubcare, thanks! Your avatar is so cute!

Joan, thank you. They were so excited to find the mushroom toppers. I like finding things in nature to admire too.
