Too many toys in the tub. . .

October 16, 2007

We started accumulating bath toys for our two toddlers and couldn’t fit them all on the built-in ledges of our fiberglass shower.  I saw a frog bath organizer at Target, but it looked like mildew’s best friend and had to be attached with adhesive.  I couldn’t imagine unattaching it each time I wanted to clean the shower walls.  It looked like it would get overloaded and come crashing down (probably waking up a sleeping toddler, knowing my luck).  We have more toys than would fit into that frog anyway, LOL!

I got an idea from Parents Magazine, in a section called “It Worked for Me!” to make my own bath toy organizers out of the mesh bags used for machine washing delicates.  I got a pack of 3 of those laundry bags at the Dollar Store and 6 suction cups from Target (sold in packs of 2) and we are so pleased with how this is working!  It is easy, cheap, and stays clean with no effort.

Here is a picture so you can see how well it works.

If you have this same problem of too many toys in the tub, try hanging mesh laundry bags on the wall to organize and drain the toys.

That is Brillant!!! Probably cheaper than making ready-made ones.

We have two, one came with a bathtoy. One in the shape of a whale. That one hold four rubber ducks and is ALWAYS falling down. We keep that one down low.

The total cost was around $10 because the packs of suction cups were around $3 each and the pack of laundry bags was, of course, only a dollar! They haven’t fallen off once and it’s easy to take them all down to clean the walls and put them right back up again.
